WooCommerce and Shopify Store: Catalog SEO and Cleanup
SEO problems in a small store often sit inside the catalog. Variant and filter URLs repeat the same product. Some pages have no link pointing at them. Others carry old claims nobody checked.
We crawl the whole catalog, fix what is broken, and keep watching it. In one 1,800-product catalog, a single unverified promise sat on 1,576 product pages. We found it with one query and removed it in one pass.
Starting at $2,900 for the catalog cleanup, then $1,490 per month for ongoing work.
What you get
| Part | What we do | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| Catalog crawl | Visit every product, collection, and category URL | A list of errors, duplicates, and pages with no internal links |
| URL and canonical fixes | Point variants and filter URLs to the base product page | Fewer duplicate URLs for Google to sort out |
| Internal links | Link pages that nothing links to | No page left without a path from the rest of the site |
| Product page text | Find pages with missing or copied descriptions | A ranked list, then edited text based on your own product data |
| Structured data | Check Product markup against Google's documentation | Fixes where the markup is missing or wrong |
| Sitemap | Rebuild it from the cleaned catalog | A sitemap that lists only pages you want indexed |
| Report | Before and after, in plain words | One document you can forward to your developer or bookkeeper |
The $2,900 cleanup is a one-time project. The $1,490 monthly plan covers checks on new products, fixes, and a monthly report. Page counts and hours are set in your written quote.
The process
- Scoping call (15 minutes). Platform, catalog size, and what worries you.
- Crawl. We map every URL and compare it with your product list.
- Fix list. Each item gets a plain label: fix now, fix later, leave alone.
- Fixes. You approve the list first.
- Recheck. We crawl again and show what changed.
Some things are set by the platform itself, especially on Shopify. We tell you what can and cannot change before you pay.
What our past catalog work found
These facts come from our own project records of 2026-09-02. Client names and countries are withheld. They come from separate catalog projects, so read each row alone.
| What we found | What we did |
|---|---|
| An unverified promise to shoppers, repeated on 1,576 product pages in a 1,800-product catalog | Removed it in one pass, then rebuilt the sitemaps |
| 37 prices on the site that did not match the client's price list | Corrected them |
| A catalog query that took 2.3 seconds | Added an index on the right column: 6 milliseconds. This is a database query on the server, not a page-load time |
| 68 orphan pages (pages with no internal links) | Linked them all |
None of this is a result in sales. It shows what a crawl finds in a real catalog.
Worked example: what the first year costs
First-year cost = $2,900 + ($1,490 × 12) = $2,900 + $17,880 = $20,780.
How many extra orders would that take to pay back? That depends on your profit per order. These inputs are examples, not a forecast.
| Profit per order (example) | Extra orders needed in 12 months | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| $15 | 1,386 | about 116 |
| $28 (an $80 order at 35% margin) | 743 | about 62 |
| $50 | 416 | about 35 |
Divide $20,780 by your own profit per order and round up. If that number looks unlikely for your store, the monthly plan is not for you yet. The $2,900 cleanup alone may fit better.
What we do not promise
- No ranking, traffic, or sales numbers. Nobody controls how Google ranks a page.
- No rich results. Google says search enhancements appear at the discretion of each experience and can change.
- No indexing of every page. Google says a sitemap does not mean all listed items will be crawled and indexed.
- No mass-made pages. Google's spam policies target many pages generated mainly to manipulate rankings. We edit text from your product data.
FAQ
Do you work on both WooCommerce and Shopify?
Yes. The crawl and the fix list work on both. Which fixes are possible depends on the platform and your theme. We check that during scoping.
Do we need the monthly plan?
No. The cleanup is a stand-alone project. Pick the monthly plan if your catalog changes often.
Will you change our products or prices?
Not without approval. You see the fix list first. Price fixes are only matched to the price list you give us.
How big a catalog can you handle?
We have cleaned a 1,800-product catalog. Your quote states the page count it covers. Larger catalogs are quoted separately.
Do you rewrite every description?
No. We start with pages that have no text or copied text. Rewrites use your own product facts.
