Website Migration With a Redirect Map and Post-Launch Checks
Moving your site to a new host, platform, or domain can hurt your Google visibility if the move is done carelessly. Old URLs stop working, pages lose their signals, and forms quietly stop sending leads.
Done carefully, visitors and Google follow you to the new address. We plan the move, map every old URL to a new one, set up redirects, test your forms, and monitor the site after launch.
Starting at $1,290, up to 25 pages.
We can't promise that rankings won't move at all. Google has to re-crawl your site. What we control is the technical work that keeps that disruption as small as possible.
What you get
Website Migration: $1,290, up to 25 pages
- Pre-migration audit of your current site: URL structure, existing redirects, canonical tags, forms, analytics
- Redirect map: old URL to new URL for every page
- 301 redirect setup, so Google and visitors learn the page has moved permanently
- New site checks: canonical tags, robots.txt, and sitemap.xml validated
- Google Search Console setup: property claimed, sitemap submitted, and the Change of Address tool when the domain changes
- Form testing and forwarding for contact forms, lead captures, and downloads
- Post-launch monitoring of indexing, rankings, and traffic, with the monitoring period stated in your quote
- Report with before-and-after traffic and indexing status, plus issues found and fixed
What goes wrong in a careless migration
| Step skipped | What can happen | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| No 301 redirects | Old URLs return errors, or old and new pages both exist | Visitors hit dead pages; Google may split signals between two versions |
| Wrong canonical tags | Google gets conflicting signals about the preferred URL | The wrong version may be indexed |
| Sitemap not updated | Google isn't told about the new URLs | New pages are found more slowly |
| Search Console not set up | No view of indexing errors, and no Change of Address for a domain move | Problems go unnoticed |
| Analytics tracking broken | No data after the move | You can't tell whether traffic carried over |
| Forms not forwarded | Submissions go to an old address or nowhere | Leads are lost without any visible error |
Migration scenarios we handle
| Scenario | What changes | What we do | What to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| New hosting, same domain | Server only | Build and test on the new host, then switch DNS | Plan the DNS change for a quiet hour |
| New domain | Every URL's address | Map all URLs, set 301 redirects, use Change of Address | Redirects must be complete |
| New platform (for example, WordPress to Webflow) | Content structure and URLs | Rebuild pages, map URLs, redirect, verify forms | URL structure often changes |
| Site restructure | Folder and URL patterns | Map every old page to a new destination, test all redirects | Every old URL needs a destination |
The migration checklist
We check each item and sign it off before going live:
- Redirect map complete: every old URL has a destination
- 301 redirects tested: an old URL leads to its new URL
- Canonicals correct: each page points to itself
- Sitemap updated and lists all pages
- robots.txt allows crawling
- Search Console property created and verified
- Sitemap submitted in Search Console
- Analytics tracking works on the new site
- Contact forms tested and delivering to your email or CRM
- Broken links checked
- Mobile version works
- Meta tags (title, description, H1) copied or updated
FAQ
How long does a migration take?
It depends on the number of pages, the platforms involved, and how quickly you can review the new site. We give a timeline in the quote.
Will our rankings drop?
We can't promise they won't move. After a migration, Google re-crawls the site, and Google's own guidance says it can take time for search results to reflect a move. Correct redirects, canonicals, and sitemaps reduce the risk. We monitor after launch and tell you what we see.
What if our host can't do 301 redirects?
Some hosting platforms limit redirect options. We check what your platform allows during the audit, before you commit. If proper redirects aren't possible there, we say so and suggest alternatives.
Do we need to update Google Ads and social media links?
If the domain changes, yes: update ads, social profiles, and any listings that point to the old address. If only the host changes, links keep working. We provide a checklist.
What if we have more than 25 pages?
The $1,290 price covers up to 25 pages. Larger sites are quoted separately. Ask for a quote.
Do we need downtime?
We build and test the new site before switching. The switch itself happens at the DNS change, and the length of any gap depends on your DNS settings. We plan it with you.

Mistakes we check for
- Leaving the old domain with no redirects
- Redirecting every old page to the home page, which discards page-specific signals
- A robots.txt left over from the staging site that blocks crawling
- Serving the new site without HTTPS
- Forms that no longer deliver
- Changing URL structure without redirects
