Home Internet Access by County: 10 NEPA Counties
In Schuylkill County, 13.3% of households have no internet access. In Monroe County the share is 6.6%. Across ten NEPA and Lehigh Valley counties, 66,573 of 678,606 households (9.8%) report none. For a local business, that is the part of the market a website and online ads cannot reach.

What to do with this
Do not drop print and phone. If one in ten households has no internet, a postcard, a truck sign or a phone listing still reaches them. Online ads miss them by definition.
Check your own customers first. County shares describe all households. Your buyers may sit in a part of the county that differs from the average. Use these numbers as a rough guide, not a forecast.
Expect margins of error. The ACS is a survey. The file we pulled gives estimates without margins, so a gap of a point or two between counties may be noise. Large gaps, like Schuylkill against Monroe, are safer to act on.
Our website speed optimization and accessibility services help with the households that are online on slow connections or assistive tools. See the county explorer to compare internet access with business counts.
Where the numbers come from
- U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates 2019–2023 (tables B01003, B01002, B19013, B25077, B11001, B28002). Pulled 2026-10-06.
- U.S. Census Bureau, TIGERweb county boundaries. Pulled 2026-10-06.
Table B28002 covers all households. "No internet access" is the Census definition.
FAQ
Which county has the most households without internet?
By share, Schuylkill County (13.3%). By count, Luzerne County has the most (15,209).
Does no internet access mean no smartphone?
The table asks about home internet only. A household can use a phone data plan, and the Census sorts that under access with a subscription. We cannot split it from this file.
How often does the data change?
The Census publishes new 5-year estimates every year. We refresh this page when a new release lands.
Can I use these numbers in my own report?
Yes. They are public Census data. Cite the table and year, and link back if you want to.
